After School Clubs provide fun and constructive activities for middle school students each day in a safe and supervised setting after school. Students are able to choose from a variety of clubs led by teachers, After School Club staff, and community volunteers. Options include cooking, drama, weightlifting, chess, aerobics, art, journalism, games and homework assistance. After School Clubs in Otoe County are provided through a partnership between People United for Families and the local school district.
After School Clubs are offered at the Nebraska City Middle School from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. each day school is in session. All middle school students are welcome. Clubs take place from 3:30 to 4:15, followed by snack time. Students can then leave or stay for a second hour of clubs that include homework club or open recreation. Students may register for a single club, several clubs, or attend every day for two hours. The options are flexible to meet individual student interests and family needs. A homework club and one to four other clubs are available to choose from every day, both hours, on Mondays through Thursdays. On Fridays, students may participate in a movie club every other Friday. On alternate Fridays, students may attend a club off campus, including trips to the Ambassador Wellness Center, Morton-James Library, a local park or special field trips.
