SAFE HOMES - A PARENTS NETWORK - DRUG FREE VIOLENCE FREE

The Safe Homes parents network is the cornerstone program of PACT, and essential to our goal of reducing teen alcohol use in Otoe County.  The Safe Homes goal is to develop a community wide coalition of parents and adult guardians empowered to work together to implement the Safe Homes project in their homes, schools and community.

Participation in the Safe Homes Network is simple.  All we ask is that parents sign the Safe Homes Pledge.  The pledge consists of three simple statements.

  1. To actively supervise all gatherings or parties of youth in your home or on your property, or ask another responsible adult to help or do so.
  2. To not allow the possession or use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drugs, or violence by youth in your home or on your property.
  3. To set expectations for your own children by knowing where they are going, who they are with, what their plans are, and when they are to return home.

When you sign the Safe Homes Pledge, your name goes on the Safe Homes list, which is distributed ONLY to the other homes on the list.  Your Safe Homes list then becomes a means for you to communicate with the parents of your children’s friends, and to share with each other your thoughts, values, and expectations.  You invite the Safe Homes families to call you, and likewise, you’re invited to call the other Safe Homes.

What an excellent way to enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your children are in an environment where a lifestyle of alcohol, drug, and violence free youth is practiced, and respected!
