YOUTH AS RESOURCES:
What is YAR: Youth As Resources (YAR) is a community based program offering youth the opportunity to work side-by-side with community members to tackle projects and make life better in their community.


WHO IS INVOLVED: Youth from all walks of life get involved. Some are experienced in volunteer
service; others may be new to service. All want to make their communities better places for
themselves and others.


YAR BENEFITS
Youth Gain
· Leadership, planning, teamwork, and other life skills
· A sense of connection and accountability to the community
· An ethic of service and a commitment to be involved
· A sense of pride, confidence, being needed and valued
· Power to affect personal change and improve the lives of others

Communities Gain
· Resources and creativity in solving problems and providing needed community services
· Strong youth adult partnerships – mutual understanding and trust
· New alliances among local businesses, agencies, and organizations
· New perspectives as youth gain a voice in governance and philanthropy



Projects must address an identified need and/or issue of concern in the
community and all projects are youth-led, youth-planned, and youth-driven!
